Going Encrypted

August 22, 2017

The Mathematics Area in the Department of Applied General and Technical Studies is well-known for its innovative course sequences that meets the unique mathematics needs of the College of Applied Science and Technology technical programs.

One such sequence is a series of three courses in cryptology. Developed by Dr. Scott Randby, these courses teach students in the digital forensics and new cybersecurity programs modern mathematical cryptography (encryption of messages) and cryptanalysis (decryption of encrypted messages).

Demand for professionals who know how to secure and protect sensitive digital information and electronic communications is extremely high, and the best such professionals are those who understand the cryptology that nearly everyone uses daily. Students who complete the cryptology sequence will have that understanding.
